Celebrating Ten years of success
For over 10 years, Master Tae Yun and his dedicated staff have developed strong community leaders through rigorous physical, mental and spiritual guidance. With its range of professional martial arts programs, Columbia Tae Kwon Do services the student as a whole – body, mind and spirit – regardless of age, ability or background. Offering classes in Tae Kwon Do and Combat Hapkido, as well as informal seminars in self-defense tactics, the school provides significant resources for the community of East Greenbush. “Columbia Tae Kwon Do is a family, not just a business,” notes Master Yun, owner. “We care for our students, helping them develop their skills as leaders within the community and in life.”
Columbia Tae Kwon Do provides, develops and nurtures the positive attitudes and spirits of its students. From the school’s structured classes, to its assistance with standard student issues such as schoolwork and social concerns, the staff’s dedication creates empowered students, filled with confidence, respect and control. In turn, these skills help students to grow as individuals and cope with many of the difficulties associated with adolescence – such as peer pressure.
Leadership is also shown through Columbia’s community involvement. For the past two years, Master Yun has assisted the East Greenbush Police Department with advanced self-defense tactics training. Columbia’s students are equally active in the community, raising over $15,000 in recent years for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and $10, 019 for the American Red Cross’ 9/11 Fund, through donations from martial arts demonstrations and exhibitions. The students also participate in an annual food drive to help replenish the local food banks. The school is firmly commited to supporting charities, local schools, and community groups such as the girl scouts and the local baseball leagues.
Recent host of the 2002 New York State Tae Kwon Do Championship, and home to over 350 state and 100 national champions, Columbia Tae Kwon Do’s success is proven. Competitions are available for those who wish to participate, but Master Yun emphasizes the purpose of his school: to develop leaders. “We don’t focus on trophies and prizes. We focus on the skills, education and support of the students. That’s what it’s all about.”
Recognized by the New York State Senate and Senator Joseph Bruno for its excellence as a community leader, Columbia Tae Kwon Do invites you to join its family to start your journey today.
